Lots of Cool Writing Announcements

Hi everyone! I have a whole slew of cool announcements to share with you all in the writing journey! First off, I sold a book!

My queer cosmic eco-horror romance novel "The Scientist, The Spaceman, And The Stars Between Them" will be arriving from Timber Ghost Press in May of 2024! It is a harrowing, creepy, botanical-body horror-filled story of romance, betrayal, and things that go bump in the night. I cannot wait to share more with you all soon!

Next up, TWO of my web novels are up on Tapas for your reading pleasure! Lonely Planet Hotel and The Night Farm are both cozy genre-blending stories with queer casts, chill vibes, and tons of available chapters! I also have stickers available for The Night Farm that are arriving tomorrow! PLUS The Night Farm is eligible for several categories in the Queer Indie Awards so I'd love for you to read it and consider voting in the awards!

Aspiring author; new to tumblr

Hello everyone. My name is Nico Holland Dean and I'm an aspiring author who is currently working on writing and self-publishing my first novella.

I have started this blog as a place to record the process, ask for advice, and find a community of fellow writers out there.

I am a 20-year-old student based in Chicago. My favorite book of all time is Mrs. Dolloway by Virginia Woolf and I love prose poetry.

For my first novella, I'm planning on writing about finding healing through community instead of the law after the event of sexual assault. It's a coming-of-age story loosely based on my own experience.

I have finished formatting my e-book. I'm in the last bits of designing the book cover. I have an author website preparing to launch.

Soon, I will be debuting an original fantasy erotica novella--first in a series all centered in my world of the Aer Isles, headed by the protag Orrla Larimar, a covenless witch traveling the stratospheric islands to trade alchemical concoctions and have a variety of sexy adventures using her particularly lascivious crystal magic modality.

The series will be episodic, able to be read standalone yet showcasing a larger tapestry of the world if read together. I aim to make fun fantasy with compelling characters, enthusiastic consent, indulgent intimacy, and deep world building interwoven throughout.

It's queer and fun and a little campy while also being earnest and sometimes cozy.

I'm excited and terrified and hopeful for its upcoming release. I will need all the help I can get as a new author. Those initial Amazon reviews are critical to attracting future readers.

Learning how to market myself has been, and continues to be, deeply challenging. I studied writing and am comfortable in that skill. It's all the stuff needed to find readers that's tricky!

😩 this has so much second chance romance potential. retired football player!sae x single mom!reader. you two had a fling in spain before he left you to return to japan. years later, he goes out drinking with rin as some fragmented form of brotherly reunion. the younger itoshi accidentally (more so purposefully) lets slip that you've been living kamakura for two years now, a woman mellowed out by her thirties but still suffused with the life of new motherhood. and somehow sae itoshi's face looks a million shades paler beneath the bar lights.

EN LORE THEORY: Shiori Novella has some kind of connection (or is seeking a connection) to the Ancient Ones and is perhaps in the early stages of starting to become corrupted or influenced by them.

First of all, it should be noted that Shiori seems to be the only human in Advent.  Nerissa and the twins are demons. Bijou is a living jewel that was born of human emotions. Shiori is just described as an archivist.

Shiori’s official bio states “By misfortune, she was found to have obtained forbidden knowledge within one of her stories and was imprisoned”

Key phrase here is ‘forbidden knowledge’

Now let’s look back on Ina and Sana’s bios:

So simply coming to know the ‘Forbidden Truth’ was enough to turn Sana (the literal concept of SPACE mind you) toward the Ancient Ones. Interesting to see the word ‘forbidden’ come up again, isn’t it?

Meanwhile let’s look at Ina. Ina claims to be human despite having distinctively non-human features (pointy ears, tentacles, those head squishies). The implication being that Ancient One contact can start to change the appearance of humans. 

And there is something about Shiori that isn’t entirely human. Notice the thing that’s on her shoulder sometimes? The thing that can apparently blink?

Are we sure that’s just a choker too?
